Healthy Kids Sonoma County can help you get the best health care for your children:
- Find a doctor for your child.
- Get no-cost or low-cost health insurance for your children.
- Visit a doctor or dentist (at no cost to you) right away if your child is in pain or is ill.
We have programs that cover doctor visits, doctor visits for immediate care, dental visits, medication, eye care and glasses, mental health services, and substance abuse. We can also help pregnant women get coverage for prenatal care.
When kids don't have health insurance their health is often compromised, and medical and dental conditions can go untreated. Often, a delay in receiving care can result in situations that become chronic and require immediate attention. Health Kids Sonoma County helps families avoid unnecessary and costly trips to the emergency room by connecting kids to volunteer doctors and dentists who will treat them at no cost. An appointment for a sick child can usually be scheduled on the same day we receive your call.
Even working families can be eligible for the Healthy Kids program if you meet certain income guidelines. For example, in 2005 a family of four earning up to $4,842 per month or $58,000 per year would qualify. The cost depends on your family size and income, and ranges from $0 to a maximum of $15 per child per month.
Certified Application Assistors (CAAs) are available at locations throughout Sonoma County to help your family apply for a Healthy Kids program.
